Aloha Lodge
Aloha Lodge was built in 1900 for Tracy Drake. It was named after his family spent an extended stay in Hawaii. Tracy Drake and his brother, John, founded the Drake Hotel and the Blackstone Hotel and Theatre in Chicago. The Drakes lived here for over 35 years. The home has been recently redesigned and remodeled and is now almost triple its original size.
The trees in the front are not indigenous. Mr. Drake so loved the splendor of sugar maples in the autumn, he had 100 of them dug up from a grove in Williams Bay in the fall, wrapped in huge dirt balls to protect the roots then transported by bobsled across the ice in the winter and planted around the estate.
